Time for the boys

It was the weekend for photo opportunities for the boys.

Clifton, Amy and Layton joined us at Dad and Leigh's house for Sunday lunch. It was the first time we had Layton and Mason together with my dad. As soon as we walked through the door, Dad was ready for both of his new grandsons to take their place on his arm. Mason Luke was born April 15 and Layton James joined the family June 16. Take a look at the proud Grandpa (Layton is on the left and Mason is on the right).

I was also able to capture a precious moment of boy-time at home a little later. JP was rocking the baby to sleep, being Superdad. After rocking for about 15 minutes, he took a little cat nap himself. Do you think they were both dreaming about the next big hunt.

It melts my heart to see my two favorite people in the world spending time together. Boy time is a very good thing.

The drool flows

So it's hard to believe but I have two in this house that are drooling these days. Mason (believe it or not) is starting the teething process. The drooling began about two weeks ago but the fussiness began this past week. We've been burning up the internet and phone lines, using all the tricks we can get our hands on. So far, he'd rather do this process the LOUD way...will this be the way driving will go later in life?!?!

As for my other drooler, John Paul is THRILLED to have his very first shoulder mount of a deer he harvested this fall in our home. I know that having a shoulder mount may not be the biggest deal in the world for some that have taken that for granted, but my hubby has been dreaming of hunting, harvesting and getting such a thing all his life. He's been anxious while waiting and the taxidermist was become good friends with JP for all of visits to his deer these last 8 months.

We laughed while I was expecting as to which would come home first: Mason or the shoulder mount. Mason graced us with his presence first, but I wouldn't have it any other way. JP was able to have a great father-son photo that he will be proud of for life. Can't wait to watch Mason discover one of his father's passions when the time comes.

Happiness is...

...the many expessions of Mason Luke's face. I never realized that a 2 month old could have such an expressive face. Perhaps it speaks of the faces he sees through his father, mother and grandparents.

This is the look we get most often..."Seriously, the camera again!!"

Now this open-mouth smile has everything to do with the ceiling fan above our bed. From the day he became aware of the house around him, he has been extremely fascinated with the fan...best baby mobile we never knew we had.

And this is Mason's response to his name. How can you not love that face. He really is happiness for us...happiness inspite of exhaustion but happiness none the less.
